Whether you have a family with young kids or a personal interest in the history and process of American art and art of the Wabash Valley, the Swope has a variety of programs to interest a wide range of people. We offer programs both free, such as Art Start and Artists on Art, and paid, such as Summer Art Studio and Art Plus. All proceeds generated from our programs help to fund our free educative programs. Free Programs
Artists on Art
Artists on Art offers an hour-long presentation by artists, providing a casual and informative exploration of various aspects of the art world. Whether discussing their personal creative process, delving into the life of a historical art figure, or demonstrating artistic techniques, the program offers a relaxed and insightful experience. It's an opportunity for art enthusiasts, students, and anyone interested in art to gain a better understanding of different artistic perspectives and learn more about the world of art in an accessible and enjoyable manner.
Art Start
1 PM - 2 PM
Education Center at the Swope
Young artists are invited to experience this free art program that uses books and corresponding art projects to encourage creativity. For children ages 3 – 5 accompanied by an adult. Art Start is currently being held at the Education Center at the Swope.
Paid Programs
Summer Art Studio
The Swope’s Summer Art Studio has offered fun and exciting art classes to the children of the Wabash Valley for over 20 years! By attending the Swope’s classes, children become more familiar with various new techniques and gain confidence in expressing themselves creatively through the visual arts. Art classes at the Swope also foster important leadership skills such as creative problem-solving, risk-taking, observational skills, project planning, and collaboration. Financial aid is available.
